The Solution

Mapping Neurodegeneration

DICODI is an open-ended study that aims to connect and correlate the loss of nerves within different organs.

Loss of nerves precedes organ damage. by studying the neurodegeneration, we aim to obtain an earlier and more accurate diagnosis allowing for earlier treatment, and the prevention of permanent organ damage.

The study will run in phases. The first phase will focus on digestive complications to achieve early diagnosis as well as correlating digestive complications to retinal and peripheral xxx neurodegenration.

Step 1

The zoom in: Digestive-Focused Study

The study starts by focusing on Digestive complications. A team of specialized physicians will develop a more accurate diagnostic of diabetic-related digestive complications with the aim of classifying the symptoms under:

  • Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI)
  • Celiac Disease in Diabetes
  • Diabetic Gastroparesis
Step 2

The Correlation: Connect Digestive to Retinal and Peripheral

By studying and chronicling the different complications, we aim to identify links between the different organ damage by measuring general loss of nerves.

DICODI study, is correlating the fastest neurodegeneration [diabetic retinopathy] and the slowest neurodegeneration [peripheral neuropathy] to assess the validity of using eye health screening as an early predictor of digestive complications.

Using retinal neurodegeneration, the fastest occurring degeneration, as a benchmark offers key advantages in terms of allowing early diagnoses and more accessible screening and testing methods.

The Future

Expanding the mapping to other complications.

Using retinal neurodegenration as the main benchmark we will expand the study to include other complications.

Besides digestive and peripheral complications, the study will advance to cover central nervous system and cardiac related complications.
